Fishermen’s restaurant Unoshima Hochikumaru

A popular local eatery in a fisherman’s village

This popular fishermen’s restaurant located at the Unoshima fishing port serves home-style dishes prepared by the women of the fishing families using plenty of fresh seafood caught in the Buzen Sea. Dishes made with local fish are available year-round, including koika (golden cuttlefish) in the spring, hamo (sea eel) in the summer, and sawara (Spanish mackerel) in the autumn. Also, fresh-caught fish are sold on the first floor, and in the winter, visitors can grill Buzen Sea oysters in the shell at the adjacent hama-yaki hut.
